We are currently seeking a Catering Assistant to join our friendly catering team across our services in Meldreth.
The role:
As a Catering Assistant, you will demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. You will assist with the preparation of meals using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, and ensuring that food is at the correct temperature. You will keep the kitchen and food areas clean and tidy and ensure food and supply items are stored correctly. The role is very hands-on.
Key duties:
1. Providing support to the Cook in meal preparation.
2. Keeping the kitchen environment clean and tidy at all times, including washing all kitchen & catering equipment, surfaces, and floors.
3. Unloading food and beverage deliveries as required.
4. Food storage in accordance with outlined standards.
5. Delivering and serving food as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
1. Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety (Catering) - essential.
2. Working knowledge of health and safety legislation (including COSHH regulations, manual handling, and food hygiene procedures) and requirements in relation to food preparation.
3. Knowledge of Natasha's Law.
4. Experience in carrying out regular equipment/maintenance checks and appropriate recording of checks done.
5. Good standards of literacy, numeracy, written, and verbal communication.
6. Possess good working knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning schedules.
7. Proven ability to prioritise tasks and work flexibly.
8. Committed to promoting the health, welfare, and safeguarding of children and young adults.
9. Ability to work under pressure.
10. Positive work attitude.
