Location - Templecombe Hours - 4 day week Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week Thales Underwater Systems are looking for an experienced Industrial Digital Technology Engineer, to join our team in Templecombe. If you're someone that enjoys working autonomously, improving ways of working in a manufacturing environment, then this role could be for you About the role: You will get the opportunity to accelerate the deployment of Industry 4.0 here at Thales & digital technologies within the Industrial Competence Centre, by proactively identifying opportunities, developing solution roadmaps, leading deployment activities and collaborating with cross functional teams including IS, Security and other UK Digital specialists. You will work closely with our Head of Industry in Templecombe, and with our head of Digital Industry Manager. Working with different sites across the UK to understand best practice, and bring your ideas to help improve our industry processes. About you A strong understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies, with practical experience deploying and configuring operational technology e.g. (Smart Tooling, Vision Systems, Automation Solutions) Strong understanding of lean aspects (one piece flow, line balancing, layout) Demonstrated ability to plan and lead complex projects from concept to implementation Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to interpret data, simplify complex problems and develop structured solutions. Identifies opportunities to innovate and influences sponsors to engage and develop ideas Min. 3 years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering role or equivalent Experience of complex manufacturing environments Understanding of connected industrial concepts and operational technology (e.g. Cobotics, AR/VR, IIOT, Digital Twins) Understanding of total supply chain disciplines (Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Delivery, Supplier Quality Assurance, Logistic/Delivery) Industrial experience of implementing new technologies (including change management and impact analysis) Lean / Green belt certified Key Responsibilities: Opportunity Identification: Evaluate current manufacturing processes and test methods to identify opportunities for the deployment of Industry 4.0 operational technology such as Smart Tooling, Vision Systems, Collaborative Robotics & Data Analytics solutions that will enhance operational efficiency. Technology Roadmap & Deployment: Lead the planning and implementation of I4.0 projects within the industrial competence centre. Work closely with the UK central function and other external stakeholders to create a development roadmap for the ICC in line with UK strategic goals and solution architectures. Design for Manufacture & Bid Development: Work closely with Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project & Bid teams to ensure new products and future bids can benefit from the latest technology developments ensuring manufacturing process & funding requirements are captured. Innovation: Manage the COREF innovation lab within the ICC, working with external research partners and suppliers to identify new technologies for proof-of-concept testing. Support engagement sessions with manufacturing engineers across the UK and technology demonstrations to a wide range of stakeholders to showcase the art of the possible for I4.0 technology. Continuous Improvement & Data Driven Decision Making: Work closely with the ICC Continuous Improvement lead to support initiatives to streamline production processes, reduce downtime & minimize waste through the use of I4.0 technology. Identify opportunities for manufacturing data collection and support the analysis and evaluation of data to drive operational efficiency. Skills Development & Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing teams to provide mentoring and support in the use of new technology, fostering a culture of innovation and encouraging the use of digital tools.
