Role: Regular Giving and Engagement Officer
Lines of Reporting: Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement
Hours: 40 hours per week. This role is full-time and year-round.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver annual giving campaigns, including giving days, telephone campaigns, and/or direct mail appeals.
* Expand efforts to build a warm and mutually supportive ‘Habs community’ of alumni, parents, staff, students, and friends.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of any children and young persons for whom they are responsible or with whom they come into contact.
The role will include but not be limited to the following principal duties:
Development:
* Support the Head of Supporter Engagement in planning and delivering the annual Habs Giving Day and other mass appeals.
* Cultivate and solicit low-to-mid-level gifts from prospective donors.
* Identify prospective major donors from the annual giving donor pool.
* Assist in implementing fundraising initiatives for bursaries & scholarships and other school priorities.
* Plan and deliver donor engagement, recognition, and stewardship activities for alumni and parent donors/prospects.
* Maintain warm professional relationships with donors through various communication channels.
* Research prospects and donors using appropriate and GDPR-compliant channels.
* Work with parents’ guilds on fundraising and engagement activities.
Alumni Relations:
* Assist in preparing and delivering plans for key milestones, such as anniversary celebrations.
* Develop an engaging alumni relations programme that appeals to alumni of different ages and backgrounds.
* Respond promptly to queries from alumni.
* Maintain alumni communication channels and produce engaging content for various platforms.
* Identify and recruit alumni and parent volunteers for support initiatives.
* Organise and run frequent alumni events with the support of the foundation team.
* Work effectively with the schools’ leadership teams and high-level volunteers.
* Produce reports on constituents and related activities as needed.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* Experience in delivering successful annual fundraising appeals.
* Experience planning and delivering large-scale events.
* Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
* Ability to prioritise own schedule and work to strict deadlines.
* Effective use of social media channels to advance an institution’s mission.
Desirable:
* Experience securing philanthropic gifts from individual donors.
* Track record in alumni relations, donor stewardship, or volunteer engagement.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Previous work in an academic environment.
* Experience using a CRM database.
* Experience maintaining an alumni networking platform.
Personal Qualities:
Essential:
* Sympathy for the objectives of an independent school.
* Willingness to work outside normal hours as required.
* A warm, friendly, and professional manner in interactions.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Proactive attitude.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with the Haberdashers’ family of schools.
