An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults within the NELFT Corporate Directorate. The post covers the London boroughs where NELFT services operate.
The post holder will support the Heads of Safeguarding in delivering on the aims and objectives set out within the NELFT Safeguarding Strategy. The role is a collaborative one, working with individuals and groups across professional and organisational boundaries providing support and guidance to teams within NELFT. The role will also require attendance and participation at internal NELFT meetings, Multiagency Partnership and Safeguarding Adult Board (SAB) sub-group meeting.
Essential requirements for the post: Significant experience in management & leadership in adult safeguarding, delivering supervision and appraisals, thorough legal literacy, highly specialist knowledge and understanding of working with complex family situations in relation to safeguarding adults, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team and support the needs of others in a sensitive and effective manner.
The post is based within operational service bases in North East London and Suite One Phoenix House in Basildon at least twice a week to cover the safeguarding duty helpline. The applicant may be required to work across other areas of the NELFT footprint to ensure appropriate cover arrangements are in place.
Main duties of the job
* Providing line management, supervision and appraisals.
* Deliver the safeguarding work plan.
* Be responsible for ensuring that NELFT meets its statutory safeguarding requirements.
* Support services within their operational bases.
* Provide advice via the duty safeguarding helpline.
* Delivering safeguarding training to NELFT services.
* Oversee staff induction and manage staff development and competencies.
* Provide safeguarding adults supervision to other members within the safeguarding team.
* Support internal and external case escalations.
* Developing new, and reviewing existing training programmes to ensure training is aligned to the National Intercollegiate documents.
* Review and develop new and existing safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Developing and reviewing working processes within the safeguarding team.
* Leading on and/or overseeing internal and external audits.
* Reviewing and analysis of safeguarding data.
* Ensuring internal, mandatory and statutory reports are completed and to the agreed deadlines.
* Leading on Safeguarding Learning Review process.
* Attendance at priority internal, external safeguarding meetings.
* Deputising attendance for the Head of safeguarding and/or providing cover for fellow colleagues at priority meetings.
* Work alongside our NELFT safeguarding children's colleagues and promoting 'Think Family'.
* Supporting our external partners and operational colleagues to effectively coordinate and communicate all safeguarding concerns.
About us
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period: This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement: This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).

The expectation of the role is to work between operational bases in London and supporting the safeguarding duty helpline in Basildon at least twice a week. Any additional duty days will be based on the need of service. This is not a working from home role.

Skills
* Expert knowledge of current practice relating to safeguarding children/child protection and think family.
* Be responsible for ensuring that NELFT meets its statutory requirements in respect of safeguarding children and young people and Think Family agenda.
* Effectively coordinate and communicate Safeguarding children activity to promote the welfare of children and young people. This will include ensuring coordination of safeguarding children supervision.
* Experience in undertaking complex investigations and critical analysis. Report on findings and outcomes, prepare action.
Experience
* Evidence of working across the adult and children safeguarding arena.
* Expert knowledge of current practice relating to safeguarding children/child protection and think family.
* 5 years + Experience.
Qualifications
* NMC/HCPC/Social Work England current registration.
Knowledge
* An awareness of NHS long term plan, NELFT Strategies and NELFT Governance structure.
* Good knowledge of safeguarding developed through training and/or experience.
