Working collaboratively with clinical key stakeholders to ensure patient and clinical involvement in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of systems and services. The post holder will provide specialist knowledge advice and guidance relating to clinical informatics and digital transformation in the areas of Allied Health Professionals.
The overall purpose of the Digital Specialist Nurse/AHP/Midwife role is to support and deliver a patient centric and outcomes based integrated care model for the Trust that is technically and financially sustainable, and to promote the effective use of data, information, knowledge, and technology to support and improve health, health research and health-care delivery. The role is therefore, to support Digital Services in undertaking a wide range of informatics/digital related projects which require implementation across all Clinical Services within The University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW).

The job holder will plan, implement, and manage a portfolio of projects under the supervision of the Digital Matrons and Head of Digital Projects. The job holder is expected to provide strong leadership for delivering and supporting the implementation of project outcomes across all clinical areas within UHCW to support the strategic aims of the Trust. The job holder will be responsible for communication and engagement, training and go-live support determined which will include undertaking clinical audits, stakeholder consultation and engagement, assessments, and evaluation of care. The Digital Specialist Nurse/AHP/Midwife role collaborates with the Chief Clinical Information Officers and other clinical teams in providing clinical leadership. They play an essential leadership role in the implementation of Digital development to support the safe and efficient design, implementation, and use of digital solutions to deliver improvements in the quality and outcomes of care. They additionally work closely with clinical safety teams and project teams to ensure hazard logs, workshops and safety are in place. The post holder will be required to oversee and manage Band 6 team members.

• Act as the key advocate of digital solutions within clinical settings across the Trust
• Act as the key point of contact for all nursing/midwifery/AHPs/HCSWs queries related to digital projects and provide specialist clinical advice on nursing and patient care issues related to the projects .
• Provide on-site support during go-live on an area by area basis, providing guidance in system use, addressing problems that arise and acting as a link between the users and the systems administration team.
• During the immediate period following go live on each ward, provide specialist support to the system users out of hours on a rota basis.
• Assist in and at times lead project communication at all stages of the project, meeting with and engaging stakeholders at a variety of forums including trust wide meetings, ward meetings, project workshops etc. and addressing any queries and concerns they may have
• Adhere to all local standard operating procedures and policies.
• To use detailed knowledge of a wide range of clinical, and administrative processes to enhance project management and bring about improvements.
• Use process mapping techniques to look at new ways of working in a structured way, redeveloping pathways where necessary.
• Define, document and safely executive projects, assessing and managing risk alongside colleagues within and outside of the project.
• Monitor measure and evaluate risk assessment tools to ensure they continue to be effective
• In conjunction with the other work stream leads, eLearning Training Lead, subject matter experts and external trainers as necessary, jointly design and develop the training material for all users of the new systems including doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists AHPs and HCSWs.
• Maintain accurate records regarding all training and compliance.
• Consult with equipment manufacturers regarding service provision, patient and service support and technological advances.
• Ensure that confidentiality and adherence to the Data Protection Act in relation to own practice is maintained.
• Seek opportunities to publicise and promote the service.
• Assist in and at times lead project communication at all stages of the project, meeting with and engaging stakeholders at a variety of forums including trust wide meetings, ward meetings, project workshops etc. and addressing any queries and concerns they may have
• Facilitate the process of individual digital implementations including stakeholder engagement, clinical process and pathway analysis, data collection, configuration evaluation and sign-off, user training, familiarisation and go-live.
• Liaise with all levels of clinical management to ensure that digital projects enable change to clinical practice are appropriate, safe, accepted and adopted, adopting a clear communications plan over the duration of the implementation.
• Maintain a focus on improvements in patient safety and experience and the quality of care throughout each deployment.
• Apply clinical knowledge and experience to work with the team on the development of new Standard Operating Procedures and other local policies and guidelines to safely implement new/upgraded digital system
• Work with the project team to develop rigorous user acceptance tests to ensure the new/upgraded system is fit for purpose and meets operational requirements
• Participate in the acceptance testing of the systems, particularly in relation to nursing practice, applying the knowledge, skills and training of a senior nurse
• Work with the reporting lead to help identify reports that will support nursing practice and help test and implement the reports
• Develop networks with clinical and medical users of systems on other sites and share learning and best practice within the Trust
