Quality Engineer
Location: Bedford
Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000 per year
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5.30pm.

Bridge Recruitment are helping one of our established clients recruit for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their ever-expanding team. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager, being responsible for the quality control within the manufacturing, assembly and dispatch areas.
Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:
1. Actively drive improvements in shopfloor quality through the implementation of formal procedures based on best practice.
2. Effectively manage and maintain the sample approval process.
3. Carry out internal audits and support purchasing with supplier audits.
4. Monitor and support performance improvement through data capture and reporting, including management review meetings.
5. Cooperate with purchasing team to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance.
6. Ensure compliance with ISO9001.
7. Investigate and report on non-conformances.
8. Investigate and report on Customer Complaints.
9. Co-ordinate and control equipment calibration.
10. Conduct quality meetings which include documenting quality issues and providing feedback.
11. Identify new processes and equipment to streamline production and provide cost reductions.
12. Monitor and control local quality training within the department and factory.
13. Support correspondence with Clients / Customers requiring Company information.
14. Provide quality induction material/training to all new employees.
15. Abide by the Legrand Core Values and Code of Ethics and strive to meet and exceed the Groups Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.
16. Provide support in the investigation and analysis of customer returns.
17. Report the status of technical related debit notes to Management.
18. Design and/or modify QMS documents.
19. Identify critical components and criteria and, with support from colleagues, develop and implement an effective GII system.
20. Ensure product UL compliance and requirements are met in cooperation with colleagues.
Requirements of the Quality Engineer:
1. Proven experience in a manufacturing and assembly environment and techniques including punch, folding, powder coating, welding, and assembly.
2. Familiarity with best practices in storage, movement, and handling of metal components, assemblies, and finished products.
3. Strong time management skills and excellent attention to detail.
4. Responsible, trustworthy, with a high standard of accuracy.
5. Good communication skills, clearly at all levels of the organisation.
6. Analytical and numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving skills.
7. Driven with the ability to plan and deliver to meet project deadlines.
8. Commercial and financial awareness.
9. Experience of working in a busy environment with proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
10. Good interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining working relationships.
11. Able to analyse complex situations and give balanced, well-considered decisions.
12. Support, motivate, and strive to get the best out of each team member.
13. Good IT skills and familiarity with MS Office packages.
