The team employs biochemical reconstitution, electron cryomicroscopy (cryo-EM), and advanced bacterial genetics to explore how cells control the three-dimensional structure of DNA. This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 24 months in the first instance. About you We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant in Biochemistry and Structural Biology to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering research at the forefront of structural chromosome biology. You will support the team investigating the molecular mechanisms of chromosome remodelling machines, conduct experiments in protein and nucleic acid biochemistry, and assist in preparing samples for cryo-EM analysis. Additionally, you will support the team with general lab operations, including maintaining supplies, consumables and equipment, and preparing reagents. You will hold, or be near completing, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant biological discipline. Previous laboratory experience, good communication and documentation skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. You will be self-motivated, creative and persistent, with proven experience in a laboratory environment. The research involves recombinant DNA techniques and protein chromatography, so experience in these areas would be advantageous.
