Key Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts for store variable costs
2. Complete detailed variance analysis, with supporting commentary and evidence for any adverse/favourable variances to budget and last year
3. Assist with producing monthly, half-year and year-end Group reporting packs
4. Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying risks and opportunities and communicating these to the Retail Finance Manager
5. Assist with the production of monthly store P&L reports, liaising with Retail and highlighting variances to budget
6. Responsible for analysing key cost areas and provide challenge to the retail/procurement teams
7. Regular meetings with Retail/Procurement to gain an understanding of expected costs, highlight issues as they arise and challenge costs where necessary
8. Assist the Commercial Finance team with the production of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts for store variable costs
9. Assist with the implementation of controls in line with the Group’s Financial controls programme
10. Assist with audit queries
11. Ad hoc project work as required
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:
12. Part Qualified/Finalist CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA accountant
13. Experience of management accounting essential
14. Strong analytical skills required to identify and remediate risks
15. Ability to investigate, understand and explain variances and overall business performance
16. Strong communication skills both written and verbal required
17. Ability to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines
18. Ability to work under your own initiative
19. Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Powerpoint
20. Experience using Power BI/ Power query advantageous
21. Attention to detail and accuracy
22. Retail industry experience desirable
23. Experience of Oracle Financials and TM1 useful (though training will be provided)
24. A positive, flexible, enthusiastic, and driven attitude.
