Purpose of the role
To provide mechanical repair and maintenance skills including fault identification, analysis to facilitate repairs, and improvements including inspections, adjustments, and calibration to agreed standards set by the company.
Carry out maintenance and repair operations in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan/budget to improve operational reliability and availability of the plant and machinery at the lowest effective maintenance costs for all equipment, installations, and buildings on-site.
As Maintenance Fitter, you will provide the necessary skills to ensure that the mechanical maintenance for all operational activities and equipment on site is carried out. You will ensure that all planned and preventative maintenance is carried out in accordance with the maintenance plans; you will be responsible for completing daily inspections including identification, reporting, and rectification of faults to reduce breakdowns and improve plant reliability.
Key Accountabilities
* Complete and adhere to risk assessments that cover any health, safety, and environmental risks and management policies.
* Assist with start-up & shut-down routines to maximise throughput within the capacity of the plant.
* Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment to produce materials in accordance with the site productivity targets and maintenance KPIs.
* Maintenance and repair of equipment within the scope of your competencies as required by the OEM and Heidelberg Materials.
* Assist with the coordination of planned shutdowns ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
* Carry out cleaning and housekeeping, and any other 5s-related duties as required by management and per the site regime.
* Keep accurate records per management requirements (including timely and accurate completion of timesheets/work time information) to ensure that all maintenance carried out is accurately recorded for reference purposes.
* Fulfil responsibilities of use of Maintenance Software.
* Comply with site MRO system and inventory management software.
* Assist in the development of a spare parts strategy which best suits plant operation.
* Assist with the maintenance budgeting process.
* Operate machines, tools, & equipment safely and in accordance with regulations and manufacturers' guidance.
* Undertake these duties at other Heidelberg Materials sites in the area within reasonable travelling distance where transport or travelling allowance may be provided if the distance exceeds the normal home journey.
* Ensure that workshops, equipment, and facilities are adequate and maintained.
* Report problems or defects of static plant to your line manager or supervisor.
Education and qualification
Essential
* Certification by EPIC to operate mobile plant.
* Computer literate.
* Good general education required; a large amount of health and safety regulations and Quarry Regulations are required to be understood and carried out.
* Practical burning and welding operations.
* Safety Awareness of Industrial Gases.
* Good mechanical knowledge of crushing and screening equipment.
* Plant processes.
* Driving licence.
