Carrington Infant School is a co-educational LA maintained school for pupils aged 4-7 years which federated with Carrington Junior School in September 2024. Our Vision is to create an outstanding, caring school community where everyone is valued and developed to their full potential as individuals, learners and as members of communities where they will play a part now and in their future lives. Our school values of Kindness, Respect and Honesty permeate throughout the school as well as our curriculum drivers of Oracy, Diversity and Enrichment.
Our ARP has a safe, outdoor space as well as access to the wider school environment e.g. Forest School, playgrounds.
The school has strong links with the SEND Team at Buckinghamshire Council and Carrington Junior School.
About the role
This is a job-share position in our ARP.
Our ARP has a highly collaborative team who work closely together and plan engaging activities to meet the needs of the pupils. You will be part of this experienced team, overseen by our Lead ARP teacher who works 0.6 and further supported by the Assistant Head Inclusion.
There are up to 9 pupils with ASD and all require a bespoke approach to learning.
About you
You will be an experienced, resilient and positive teacher of SEND pupils, particularly those with a diagnosis of Autism and Speech and Language and Communication Difficulties. You will understand the importance of kindness, commitment and stability for our pupils and be open to working creatively.
Your experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs will be matched with your ability to plan a personalised curriculum.
Experience of teaching EYFS and KS1 children is essential.
Knowledge of specialist communication systems e.g. Makaton, PECs.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with children, staff, parents and outside agencies (SALT and Occupational Therapy).
You will have a commitment and a passion for inclusive education along with the ability to use multiple strategies to maximise achievement and manage a variety of challenging behaviours.
