Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, well-qualified, and excellent teacher as SENDCo to lead our Learning Support team at Woolmer Hill School and work with our incredible students and staff, from September 2025. This role involves working in close partnership with parents, carers, and school staff, as well as liaising with a wide range of external professionals. We are looking for someone who is passionately committed to inclusive education and who will ensure that all our students can access the whole curriculum, make excellent progress, and have their individual needs met.
We are looking for either a fully qualified and experienced SENDCo or a well-qualified and experienced teacher who is currently on their journey to be fully qualified or keen to undertake the necessary qualifications. The ideal candidate should be able to think strategically and creatively and continue to drive our provision forward while further developing our excellent Learning Support team.
The successful candidate will be well supported by school staff and by WMAT staff. There are many opportunities for collaborative working, support, and sharing of best practices both across the WMAT and also across the Waverley Federation of Schools, with regular SENDCo network meetings.
Excellent communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will lead a team comprising three Deputy SENDCos, a SEND administrator, and thirteen Learning Support Assistants. The role also involves reporting to the Senior Leadership Team and the Governors of Woolmer Hill School. The successful candidate will need to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders, including parents, various local authorities (Surrey, Hampshire, and West Sussex SEND colleagues), and other external educational professionals.
Our staff and students are “proud to belong … proud to achieve,” and we are looking for someone who will be a team player in this oversubscribed, friendly, and high-achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be.
