Job Advert – Damp and Mould Surveyor (Council Client – West London)\n Client: Local Authority \n Job Title: Damp and Mould Surveyor\n Location: West London \n Contract: Temporary\n Start Date: ASAP\n Pay Rate: £300 per dayUmbrella LTD \n\nAbout the Role: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Damp and Mould Surveyor to join the Repairs Client Team at a west london based Council. This is a key role focused on ensuring compliance with the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and delivering effective property services across a wide-ranging housing portfolio.\n You will lead on damp and mould investigations and support the delivery of day-to-day repairs, disrepair works, refurbishment projects, void inspections, and structural investigations. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to improved housing conditions and resident satisfaction.\n \nKey Responsibilities:\nCarry out pre-, mid-, and post-inspections for damp and mould issues, day-to-day repairs, void works, and disrepair cases\nEnsure timely diagnosis and resolution of complex building defects and leaks\nOversee and manage structural inspections and arrange for remedial works\nProvide technical advice and leadership on complaints, compliance, and health & safety matters\nLiaise with residents, contractors, and internal teams to resolve high-risk or escalated repair issues\nMaintain legal compliance with all housing repair regulations and statutory obligations\nLead on void inspections and works, ensuring properties meet lettable standards\nAssist with the development and implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes\nMonitor contractor performance, issue variations, and manage financial authorisations\nOversee disrepair case management and liaise with legal and housing teams\nPrepare detailed reports using systems such as Site Audit Pro and manage repair schedulingExperience & Skills Required:\nProven experience as a Building Surveyor, Repairs Surveyor, or similar role within social housing\nStrong background in damp, condensation, and mould diagnostics\nExperience handling disrepair claims, void property inspections, and refurbishment projects\nKnowledge of relevant housing legislation including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act\nProficiency in defect diagnosis, specification writing, and contractor supervision\nStrong understanding of health and safety legislation, CDM regs, and housing compliance standards\nFamiliar with repairs software systems and mobile inspection tools\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills\nDegree or professional qualification in Building Surveying or Construction (or equivalent experience)How to Apply: If you are interested in this opportunity or would like to discuss similar roles, please get in touch on (phone number removed) or email (url removed)
