The Gatehouse Theatre is a provincial theatre in the heart of Stafford. It has a busy received season showing a variety of Music, Comedy and Drama and is known for punching above it’s weight when it comes to produced shows. Currently the theatre produces 3 studio Youth theatre shows and 1 main house summer school per year, not forgetting it’s acclaimed annual Shakespeare show which attracts famous actors from around the world. Whilst ambitions are high when we produce, our heart is with the local community. We work closely with our local amateur dramatics and dance schools to make their shows the best that they can be. We run community engagement projects such as our afternoon film days which aim to combat loneliness and we support local charities. Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is looking to recruit a Senior Sound Technician with experience leading and being part of a theatre technical team. The role entails taking a hands-on approach towards supporting the technical department, to rig, operate and maintain all sound equipment. You will programme and operate sound for our produced shows, source music and SFX for shows as required, take ownership of the sound department and contribute to the safe and organised storage of all sound equipment. Hours: 37 hours a week, Monday - Sunday (Rota Basis) Requirements Have a positive, can-do attitude towards work. Have a high level of customer service when meeting acts that the theatre presents on its stage Be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative Have a genuine interest in theatre, the arts and/or music Be organised and responsible Possess a wish to positively contribute to the theatre and the technical team Have a desire to improve and learn new skills Experience mixing live bands and/or musicals Knowledge of microphone placement techniques Experience programming and operating Qlab Good problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure Manual Handling experience Ability to work comfortably at height Desirable Ability to repair sound equipment Experience working in a producing theatre Knowledge of Health and Safety practises Working at heights trained First aid at work trained A degree or similar qualification in sound or a related subject A full clean UK driving licence Good knot tying skills Ability to programme and operate an ETC Ion Experience rigging sound and/or Lighting equipment Knowledge of projection/AV Benefits We want you to love coming to work, feeling healthy, happy and valued.
