Supporting the Team Leader and Manager in the procurement and delivery of Compliance and Capital Works Contracts, and internal service level agreements.
Our Service
North Yorkshire Councils Housing Standards team are responsible for ensuring the Council’s social housing portfolio of circa 8,400 dwellings is maintained to meet all current statutory, regulatory, legislative, and good practice standards.
The team will concentrate on the effective and efficient delivery of a vast array of contractor delivered works including but not limited to – Capital works programmes such as the renewal of Kitchens, Bathrooms, Windows and Re-roofing works.
The role
The Housing Standards Team are looking for Contract Supervisors to carry out service procurement and contract management of contracts for the Compliance and Capital Contracts team from our Base in Selby.
As a Contract Supervisor entry level, you will:
1. Take responsibility for your own area of work, ensuring behavioural, quality, and safety standards are adhered to.
2. Liaise regularly with tenants and a variety of providers, suppliers, and contractors, being the first point of contact for these in respect of planned works programmes.
3. Seek to always deliver best value, ensuring that work is carried out safely, to the required specification, and that it complies with all current service standards, codes of practice, and legislation.
4. Arrange and attend regular contract liaison meetings.
5. Collate and report on performance data / management information.
6. Routine management of approved contractor lists / dynamic purchasing systems.
7. Conduct due diligence checks, e.g., checking contract insurance and qualification documentation are suitable for the works required of them.
8. Manage electronic documents, ensuring all compliance certificates are accurately recorded and risk registers updated.
9. Identify technical recommendations from routine safety checks and ensure they are followed up with appropriate works orders.
Post holders must keep up to date with all compliance, health, and safety related guidance and actively engage in the development of the service through continuous improvement initiatives.
The role involves spoken and written communication, so a confident use of the English language is required.
Post holders must have the ability to travel across the housing stock localities when required.
Professional Qualifications
Post holders must be working towards or be willing to train to obtain the qualifications below:
1. GCSE pass in English and Maths
2. IWFM Level 2 Apprenticeship
Other qualifications will be considered, to be discussed during an informal conversation. Additional building or construction related qualifications appropriate to the contracts being managed would be an advantage.
