Apprentice Installation and Maintenance Electrician
Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Installation and Maintenance Electrician to join our team. In this apprenticeship, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship while assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for renewable energy projects. You will work alongside experienced electricians to ensure that electrical infrastructure, such as solar arrays, wind farms, and energy storage systems, is installed, tested, and maintained to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
* Electrical Installation: Assist in the installation of electrical systems, including wiring, switches, panels, and circuit boards, for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
* Maintenance & Repairs: Support the maintenance and repair of electrical installations, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring systems are operating efficiently and safely.
* Testing & Commissioning: Help with the testing and commissioning of electrical systems, verifying functionality, identifying issues, and ensuring all work meets regulatory standards.
* Site Work: Assist with the installation and maintenance of electrical components on-site, such as solar PV systems, electrical substations, and wind turbine electrical infrastructure.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring all work is completed safely, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
* Documentation & Reporting: Assist in maintaining accurate records of installations, repairs, and inspections, ensuring that all work is documented properly.
* Learning & Development: Participate in on-the-job training, technical workshops, and educational programs to enhance your knowledge of electrical systems and renewable energy technologies.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior electricians and engineers to ensure tasks are completed on time, to specification, and in line with project goals.
Skills and Experience:
Educational Qualifications:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, and Science at grade C or above.
* A keen interest in electrical systems, renewable energy technologies, and electrical installations.
Skills and Experience:
* Basic understanding of electrical systems and a desire to learn about electrical installations and maintenance.
* Familiarity with health and safety practices related to electrical work is an advantage.
* Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn new techniques and systems.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work well within a team.
* Ability to follow instructions carefully and demonstrate a commitment to safety.
Desirable but not essential:
* Prior experience, training, or an interest in electrical installations, maintenance, or renewable energy systems.
* Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
