Assist in the delivery of regular and reliable analysis and recommendations for all areas of the business. The primary focus will be in the Reserving function, plus wider support to other teams in Flood Re.
* Report to the Head of Reserving and Exposure Management
* Support the quarterly assessment of technical provisions on both IFRS and Solvency II bases and associated reserve risk
* Assist with preparation of data & presenting initial reserve proposals, with clearly documented rationale
* Provide general support to the Actuarial Function and all teams across Flood Re through both technical innovation and also people skills & collaboration
* Contribute to the critical review & improvement of Actuarial working practices; recommend and implement new & improved ways of working as part of a continuous improvement culture across the organisation
* Develop technical capability and succession planning of the department by learning from senior actuarial members and learning/sharing best practice and knowledge relating to reserving and capital across Flood Re
* Support the Actuarial Function to efficiently meet Flood Re’s public accountability obligations
* Ensure work is delivered to agreed deadlines
* Ensure that all work is appropriately documented and conducted in accordance with corporate policies and the appropriate framework of laws, regulations and standards to maintain regulatory compliance; escalating and seeking guidance as appropriate
Knowledge and Experience
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience of GI actuarial work
* Strong analytical skills
* Use initiative to find solutions and approach problems with curiosity and open mindedness
* Clear communication skills; both face to face and written
* Act with integrity and professionalism
* Superior IT skills: in particular, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to handle data with SQL would be preferred
* Effective time management skills; able to juggle several tasks and conflicting priorities
