About the Role: As an SEMH Maths Teacher, you will deliver tailored mathematics lessons to students with SEMH and associated needs, ensuring learning is engaging, accessible and meaningful. You will play a key role in building students' confidence in numeracy, helping them develop essential problem-solving and life skills. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated maths lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs. Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and progress. Use innovative and creative teaching strategies to make mathematics accessible and engaging. Manage challenging behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques. Work closely with SEN specialists, pastoral teams and external agencies to support students' emotional and academic development. Assess students' progress regularly and adapt teaching methods to address individual learning needs. Foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to build confidence in their mathematical abilities. Support students in developing key numeracy and life skills to enhance their independence. Maintain an inclusive and resourceful classroom environment. SEMH Maths Teacher requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Mathematics. Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or in alternative provision settings. Strong understanding of trauma-informed teaching and behaviour management strategies. Ability to differentiate the curriculum and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, fostering trust and resilience in students. Must be a driver with access to a vehicle due to the location and potential travel requirements. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable young people. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
