Job summary We are seeking an experienced and ambitious full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Churchill and provide senior medical cover on our 17 bedded acute service for men. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines. The post holder is also invited to consider taking on the role of Deputy Medical Director at the Cygnet Churchill, our 56 bed inpatient mental health hospital for men. This represents a good opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes. In this role, you'll combine clinical expertise with sound strategic acumen and inspiring leadership to oversee the delivery of the very best care whilst fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist. Main duties of the job Cygnet Hospital Churchillhas four different wards including an emergency acute admissions service and three high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services.By combining a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, we deliver high-quality care within a community atmosphere, while focusing on discharge planning from the moment service users arrive. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and have overall medical responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.) The post holder will be expected to act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.
