Tempest Travel Photography (TTP) is an innovative cruise photography company servicing P&O Cruises and Cunard ships. Our bespoke onboard sales system, developed in-house, is the backbone of our operations, ensuring seamless guest experiences across our fleet.
As a rapidly growing company, we’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of technology, efficiency, and user experience for our teams and clients.
The IT and Software Development Manager will be at the forefront of this effort, combining software development expertise with IT infrastructure management to support our international operations.
About the role:
We’re seeking an IT and Software Development Manager with a strong background in development and IT infrastructure. You’ll take ownership of our bespoke onboard sales system, ensuring it evolves to meet operational needs across 11 cruise ships. You’ll also oversee all IT hardware and software across the fleet, providing top-tier support to our onboard and shoreside teams. This is a dynamic and hands-on role, involving both remote work and regular ship visits.
In addition to this as our IT and Software Development Manager you will be responsible for:
* Software Development: Lead the ongoing enhancement, development, and troubleshooting of TTP’s bespoke onboard sales system.
* IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee the fleet-wide IT infrastructure, managing procurement, deployment, and maintenance of hardware and software.
* Team Support: Provide remote and in-person IT support, training onboard teams, and ensuring all systems function seamlessly.
* Collaboration: Work closely with shoreside and onboard teams, as well as external partners, to implement innovative technical solutions.
* Leadership: Mentor and manage the IT Support Engineer, fostering a collaborative and inclusive working culture.
* Innovation: Drive improvements in technology and processes, ensuring our systems stay ahead of operational demands.
What We’re Looking For
* Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT hardware, networking, database management (e.g. SQL).
* Problem Solver: Proactive and innovative, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and identify scalable solutions.
* Communicator: A clear and confident communicator, capable of training non-technical users and collaborating across teams.
* Leader: A supportive mentor who leads by example and thrives in a dynamic environment.
* Flexible and Adaptable: Willingness to travel, and embrace the fast-paced cruise industry environment.
Why This Role?
This is a unique opportunity to combine software development, IT management, and operational support in a growing business that’s reshaping cruise photography. Unlike many IT or software roles, this position offers hands-on variety, including occasional opportunities to travel and even sail on some of the world’s most iconic cruise ships to support our onboard teams. While much of the role is home-based, it’s not your standard IT desk job.
If you’re driven, innovative, and ready to take ownership of our systems while enjoying a role packed with responsibility and variety, we’d love to hear from you!
Apply now to help us shape the future of our operations.
