Gi Group is looking for a Transport QHSE Assistant to join our team in Northampton.
Have you got previous Health and Safety experience? We are currently recruiting for a H&S assistant to join our team in Northampton, supporting our transport office.
The purpose of this role is to manage and facilitate all site health and safety activities in a manner that ensures all statutory and company requirements are achieved and maintained in support of the business objectives.
Shift pattern for Transport QHSE Assistant:
1. Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00
Salary for Transport QHSE Assistant:
1. £26,769.47 - £29,000.00
Qualifications Required: IOSH qualification required (minimum Supervising Safely)
In this role you are accountable for:
1. Support the Transport management team in ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental matters are dealt with quickly, efficiently and in line with legislation and best practice.
2. Review and create risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks carried out within the transport operation.
3. Manage and coordinate the monthly internal QHSE meeting, ensuring all related stats and KPIs are fully accurate and up to date.
4. Escalate/report all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards as necessary using the site internal escalation.
5. Assist managers in investigations of accidents/incidents/near misses where necessary.
6. Observe all environmental and safety rules and signs at all times, taking a proactive approach to enforcing compliance on site and reporting instances of non-compliance where applicable.
7. Conduct health & safety compliance checks and audits in line with minimum quotas and planned timelines.
8. Ensure all actions assigned to them are completed thoroughly and on time.
9. Help the site and team to achieve all relevant objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
10. Updating H&S files as needed, and colleague training files where applicable in conjunction with depot training team.
11. Updating H&S communications boards across transport in line with local QHSE forum minutes and wider business communications where required.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. High performer (regularly achieves KPI target)
2. IOSH qualification required (minimum Supervising Safely)
3. Reliable (high attendance and good timekeeping)
4. Assist with general duties within the transport function.
5. Highly flexible
6. Very trustworthy & honest
7. Good communicator
8. Works safely and follows Health & Safety and site rules
9. Self-motivated
10. Determined to work to a high-quality standard and challenges own performance and standards to achieve more
11. Ability to work under own initiative, and confident to challenge current processes where room for improvement is identified
12. Ability to embrace change and adapt to a rapidly changing fast paced environment

14. Support the Transport Team with ad-hoc tasks when required.
15. Occasional travel to other GXO sites.
