The suitable person must be a qualified instrument & control engineer (preferably chartered) with a minimum of 10 years experience and the role is based in Billingham UK office.
Job Description
* Manage and lead the instrument & control Engineering Team.
* Supervise and allocate work to engineers and designers.
* Prepare scopes of work and estimates to support proposals.
* Deliver the engineering design scope to budgets and programmes.
* Co-ordinate/liaise with other Engineering disciplines/client/package vendors.
* Design authority for all instrument & control.
* Prepare, check and/or approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, scope of work and drawings to British/International Standards and Codes of Practice.
* Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and client standards.
* Provide specialist design input to 3D models.
* Prepare Technical Analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors.
* Interpret vendor and other discipline drawings/information.
* Attend and participate in safety reviews, risk reviews, planning reviews, model reviews and constructability reviews.
* Identify and raise scope changes.
* Comply with Company Quality Manager Systems.
* Other professional duties as reasonably required.
What we expect of you?
* Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industries preferred.
* Minimum of 10 years of instrument & control experience, preferably in oil & gas, chemicals and/or other high hazard process industries.
* Appropriate Technical Engineering Degree and preferably a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate institution.
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
* Ability to allocate work appropriately to design staff and monitor progress to meet project needs.
* Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments.
* Comfortable dealing directly with both Clients and Vendors at all levels of the business.
* Expertise using MS office suite and some knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas.
* Knowledge or experience of Functional Safety, preferably holding a suitable FS qualification.
