We are looking for a Logistics Manager to join our team in Boston, Lincolnshire.
Overview:
With focus on increasing customer satisfaction and optimising its resources, Metsä Wood UK has embarked on a wide range of initiatives and investments which include transforming its ERP & supply chain planning tools, standardising ways of working across its business areas and deeper collaboration with its stakeholders to increase product visibility and service.
As part of this initiative an opportunity has arisen for a senior supply chain role to lead UK transport operations and develop Metsa’s service and sustainability agendas in the logistics space.
Lead the transport operations function across the geographic region for MWUK. Provide leadership and coordination for a team of transport planners.
Ensure the best possible value is extracted from service providers and suppliers; lead the transport 3PL relationships and partner with Sales & Commercial teams to maintain excellent relationships with our customers.
Own the warehouse capacity planning function to ensure space and density plans complement the inventory plans across the S&OP horizon.
Create, propose, and implement key capacity planning metrics to drive space optimisation. Develop short and long-term KPIs to track performance and continual improvements.
As a member of the MWUK supply chain management team, develop the leadership culture within Metsä and demonstrate behaviours to positively drive value to customers and across the business.
What do you get to do?
Lead a small team of transport planners coordinating the day to day outbound delivery & routing profiles as well as last mile inbound replenishment plans to UK manufacturing sites. Be responsible for the team’s performance and related development plans.
Develop cross-functional relationships by working closely with site operations, customer service, and logistics service provider to deliver the most optimum customer service at the best possible cost.
Lead logistics transport provider performance reviews as well as oversee execution of day to day performance.
Drive cost to serve analysis relating to transport spend; report on key metrics and root cause analysis in monthly review cycles. Lead the budgetary build and forecast events related to your team’s functional responsibility.
Respond to various logistics challenges to ensure excellent customer service; influence at all levels to ensure the right balance of service and cost is attained. Ensure safety first culture is led through example.
Develop a deep understanding of timber product profiles and dimensions to create the most optimised storage layout considering material flows and SKU variability.
Work closely with site operations leadership to deliver the most optimum storage layouts for inbound materials, WIP, and finished goods products.
Analyse S&OP inventory plans and targets to validate warehouse capacity capability. Identify and propose contingency measures to meet the required storage needs.
Lead improvement initiatives and develop programmes to transform the warehousing infrastructure to meet the future needs of the UK business plans.
What experience are we looking for?
Developed career to date with a range of supply chain, project, and people management experience. Strong analytical background with ability to think commercially and strategically while ensuring the day to day operation is executed well.
Experience in S&OP best practice with focus on capacity planning across the S&OP horizon.
Highly numerate and comfortable solving business problems through analysis and data interpretation. Hybrid ability to analyse and influence.
Strong preference for experience with SAP ERP and related transport management software. Power BI or related data visualisation experience desirable.
