What skills and experience we're looking for
Laurus Cheadle Hulme is seeking to recruit an inspirational Teacher of Computing.
At Laurus Cheadle Hulme, Computing is part of a faculty with Art, Technology and Photography. The successful candidate would be supported by the director of faculty and the trust director of Computing.

• Dedicated new facilities.
• Generous non-contact time allocation.
• Four lessons per week for KS4 option groups.
• Fantastic students – our OFSTED report in 2023 found that:
“Pupils behave in an impeccable manner. In lessons, they behave maturely and are academically curious. They ask questions, enjoy debate and take responsibility in their own learning. Classrooms are harmonious places where learning is rarely disrupted.”
• A collaborative team of subject experts across the Laurus Trust who work together to develop the curriculum and subject knowledge.
• Centralised curriculum resources with autonomy to develop and improve.
• A genuine commitment to managing workload.
• Senior Leadership Team who trust and back you up.
• Funded CPD opportunities such as NPQs and Masters’.
What the school offers its staff
Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) is a non-selective, non-denominational Free School. It opened in September 2018. We currently have a total of 1064 students on roll.
Cheadle Hulme is a pleasant residential suburb on the edge of the Borough of Stockport, eleven miles south of the centre of Manchester. The location enjoys the advantages of proximity to the open countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District and the cultural and sporting activities of a major city.
Our students are housed in a purpose-built building with access to state-of-the-art facilities and overlooking Bruntwood Park, with our Year 11 students progressing to Sixth Forms in the Laurus Trust. We share the same site as Cheadle Hulme Primary School.
In 2024 Laurus Cheadle Hulme achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results with over 78% of students achieving at least a grade 4 standard pass and 59% a strong pass in English and Maths. Additionally, 32% of all students grades were at 9-7, the top grades possible. Our Year 9 students also received phenomenal results in GCSE Spanish. 81% of our Year 9s achieved the gold standard of a grade 5 or better, 88% of students achieved at least a grade 4 or above, and 50% of students achieved a grade 7 or above. These results far outstrip national Year 11 figures. Teachers across the school are extremely proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing what the class of 2026 can achieve when they reach year 11!
The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022 and this year, was awarded ‘Northwest Comprehensive School of the Year 2024’.
