Interim Head of Legal - 9-12 month initial contract This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading Investment Manager as they diversify their core public funds offering into a range of more entrepreneurial private funds. You will advise from early stage discussions, across the full lifecycle, working closely with local Country Heads (and Sales teams) to help bring these new partner opportunities to life. The right lawyer will not necessarily have a private funds skillset per se. You could have more of a public markets or general regulatory skillset, as long as you have a good hold on the distribution side. You'll need to offer good know-how on market practices, risks, models, the different types of distribution platforms - the role is actually plugging those private alt funds into those traditional networks on the UCITS side. This makes for a complex role with no 'perfect profile' - a lot of this will require good soft skills. Certainly good distribution experience is vital, where perhaps a pure private funds lawyer may not be easily able to navigate the existing legal infrastructure - a blend of regulated and alternatives expertise during your career would be beneficial - regardless of how recent the experience may be. A lot of the existing infrastructure/templates may already be present within the firm on the US side, where they are very strong in this area - so a proactive approach coupled with a desire to quickly build relationships across the globe is essential. You will work with the existing public and private lawyers globally (and TBC on direct management of a specific team), leveraging all their existing know-how to understand whether it is a good fit legally with the firm. The role is set to last for 8-12 months, but the role has a reasonably good chance of offering longer term work. Please contact: gbalasubramamlaglobal.com to find out more.
