Local Care Direct is a non-profit Social Enterprise operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to provide various primary and urgent health care services across West Yorkshire.
We have an exciting position available for a GP Clinical Advisor to join our Team working 22.5 hours per week ensuring that Local Care Directs clinical and GP workforce can deliver safe and effective patient centred care across LCD services, both present and emerging.
Location : Local Care Direct, Lexicon House, Wilmington Grove, Barrack Street, Leeds, LS7 2BQ & Local Care Direct, Unit 14, Longbow Close, Bradley, Huddersfield, HD2 1GQ
Working Hours : 22.5 hours per week to be worked across 3 days.
This role is split between Governance & Quality, Clinical Education and Operations.
Please note the provisional interview date for this position is 7th November 2024 and this would be a face to face interview.
Main duties of the job
The GP Advisor will:
* Ensure the clinical & GP workforce can deliver safe & effective patient centred care across LCD services, both present & emerging.
* Support supervision of a multi-disciplinary workforce that is flexible, skilled & capable of responding quickly to emerging services & changes in GP and AP availability.
* Support Pathway Development ensuring services & processes are reviewed, audited & developed to ensure LCD delivers safe & effective patient care with budgeted results.
* Support the clinical audit processes & feedback to clinicians.
* Contribute to clinical supervision of the clinical & non-clinical workforce, ensuring they are able to provide safe & effective patient care and work within their personal limitations; ensuring they are capable of completing their work based training & programme within the agreed time scales.
* Through attending the Clinical Audit / Governance Meetings & in collaboration with the Medical Director, ensure that services provided by GPs & Clinicians are delivered with compassion, and in a safe and effective way to every patient, every time.
* Work in collaboration with the Medical Director, maintain systems & processes for monitoring & improving outcomes for patients & provide assurance that clinical care is safe & effective.
* Work closely with the Medical Director, with respect to clinical governance & the championing of LCDs Clinical Strategy.

Clinical effectiveness and audit
* Support the development and implementation of effective methodologies and tools for auditing clinical practice for all clinicians in line with professional best practice and as per contractual requirements.
* Analyse audit data to identify the educational and training needs of clinicians.
* Provide audit feedback to clinicians and provide support as appropriate.
* Support development and implementation of a GP appraisal process for all sessional GPs.
* Support the Clinical Governance and Quality team in managing and resolving complaints and incidents.
* Provide expert advice to Clinical Governance Team where GP input / guidance is necessary regarding the management of clinicians subject to GMC and NHS England investigation.
Education and Training
* Support the delivery of the Safety, Quality and Improvement Forum.
* Provide clinical supervision to the non-GP clinical workforce across all aspects of the organisation including the assessment and declaration of individual competency.
* Support delivery of training to improve clinical quality and patient outcomes.
* Supporting development of Clinical policy to ensure that learning is disseminated across the organisation.
* Provide expert advice on the development of care pathways, policies and processes to ensure they reflect current best practice, are safe and effective.
To ensure financial policies and procedures are maintained and the budget is adhered to and that best value for money is achieved.
To ensure areas of responsibility are delivered in a way that are consistent with Local Care Directs financial plans and cost improvement plans.
To provide input to the production of business cases to support service developments.

To ensure agreed lines of communication and reporting are implemented within the team to support all employees understanding LCD business plans, objectives, priorities and changes.
To promote effective cross functional working and that the operational team supports the achievement of objectives, standards and protocols of other LCD areas.
To attend internal and external meetings representing LCD and engaging in discussions appropriate to the role and level of the post.
PATIENT CARE
To ensure that the quality of patient care is firmly at the centre of the organisations objectives and vision.
To ensure the management and monitoring of the highest standards or safety and quality in the delivery of healthcare and related services, and manage risk within Local Care Direct.
TRAINING
To complete the defined company induction programme and core training for this role and mandatory refresher training thereafter and ensure that accurate records of training are maintained.
INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Possess a current and full registration with the General Medical Council (UK).
* Be on the GP register of the GMC.
* Evidence of recent continuing professional development.
* MRCGP/FRCGP.
