About the Role
SmithTaylor manufactures high-quality home and giftware, including coasters and placemats, working with artists and businesses across the UK. We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager to support our Site Manager, Ethan, across both factory floor operations and business admin.
This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who wants to take on responsibility, gain leadership experience, and grow with the business. You’ll work with ensuring production runs smoothly, supporting the team, and helping with customer emails and new business leads.
Key Responsibilities
Admin & Business Growth Support:
* Assist with customer and supplier emails, ensuring prompt, professional responses.
* Help research and follow up on new business opportunities.
* Support digital print production, artwork preparation, and colour management.
* Assist with general office admin and operational planning alongside Ethan.
Production & Factory Floor Support:
* Work alongside the team on product assembly, cutting, printing, sanding, and packing.
* Oversee daily operations to ensure orders are produced and dispatched on time.
* Help manage workflow and troubleshoot any issues to improve efficiency.
* Support with basic machine maintenance and printer upkeep.
* Assist with risk assessments and health & safety compliance.
What We're Looking For:
* Proactive and hands-on - comfortable balancing practical work with admin tasks.
* Good communicator - able to work with the team and handle customer emails professionally.
* Organised and reliable - able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Tech-savvy - experience with digital printing or production machinery a plus but not essential.
* Willing to learn and grow - perfect for someone looking to develop leadership skills in a growing business.
