About the role
Are you passionate about Health and Safety? The University of Leicester is seeking a Health and Safety Business Partner for Estates and Campus Services. This role is crucial in promoting health, safety, and wellbeing within the university community, which includes around 4,000 staff and over 20,000 students from 115 nationalities. The university is recognized for its excellence in teaching and research.
The Health and Safety Business Partner will oversee the development and management of health and safety policies across the Estates and Campus Services division. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, providing expert guidance, and promoting best practices. The role focuses on Asset Management and Compliance but also supports other areas such as Portering and Cleaning, Projects, Grounds and Gardening, Accommodation and Residencies, and Security.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Liaising with stakeholders to meet and improve health and safety standards.
2. Leading strategic development.
3. Driving engagement with health and safety policies.
4. Supporting the Director of Health, Safety and Sustainability in implementing the university’s 5-year Health and Safety Strategic improvement plan.
5. Delivering training and providing coaching.
6. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to health and safety.
About you
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with significant experience in the built environment and a track record of delivering health and safety improvements. A Level 6 qualification in occupational safety and health is essential, and the candidate should be a Chartered member of IOSH or working towards it. The role requires someone who is highly customer-focused and capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
