The Junior Accountant is part of our Global corporate Finance & Legal team, which is the beating heart of all financial management and operations at Human8. The European colleagues are currently based in Ghent (Belgium), Manchester (U.K.) and Timisoara (Romania). The Junior Accountant is part of a team of 4 accountants supported by a shared service center in Timisoara, reporting into our European senior accounting manager (EMEA head of accounting).
The Junior Accountant will take ownership for the AZ accounting of our 3 UK legal entities & 1 SA legal entity. The UK legal entities are sales legal entities while the South African legal entity is one of our 4 regional hubs.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Closing
1. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring error-free reporting.
2. Prepare and present management accounts to the EMEA Head of Accounting and CFO.
3. Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data, including payroll accounting, accruals, reconciliations, and depreciation.
4. Conduct impairment testing, revaluation of FX transactions, and interest calculations.
5. Manage ICO transactions including subscription license income, panel income, cross-charges, markups, profit shares, and reconciliations.
Accounts Oversight & Compliance
1. Oversee accounts payable & receivable ledgers, ensuring correct representation of financial data.
2. Collaborate with the Accounting Administrator team in SSC to manage AR, AP, and bank statement processing.
3. Ensure sufficient internal controls on payments and review payment runs before execution.
4. Manage bank administration (KYC) and maintain commercial relations with four Belgian banks.
Cost Analysis & Financial Optimization
1. Analyze cost structures across entities, identifying and rectifying analytical accounting errors.
2. Improve cash flow and net working capital across multiple currencies.
3. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Taxation & Audit
1. Oversee VAT declarations, WHT reporting, and other fiscal obligations.
2. Lead tax return preparations in coordination with external advisors and take charge of tax audits.
3. Coordinate and supply all necessary information for external audits, ensuring full compliance.
4. Work closely with advisors to maintain BEE certifications.
Strategic Advisory & Stakeholder Collaboration
1. Act as a trusted financial advisor within the organization, providing guidance on financial and tax-related matters.
2. Drive financial process improvements and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Additional Requirements
1. Degree in finance and accounting, or a similar relevant field.
2. Preferably at least 1-3 years of experience in a corporate accounting role.
3. Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
5. Hands-on experience with accounting software.
6. Good Microsoft Office knowledge (especially Excel).
