We are recruiting a Senior Licensing Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Public Protection Licensing Team..
We pay an attractive salary of £30,559 - £33,366 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
The Licensing Service is responsible for the administration of a number of functions which includes alcohol, entertainment, late night refreshment, taxi and private hire licensing, gambling, street trading, scrap metal and animal related licences.
The successful candidate will have supervisory responsibility for Licensing officers and the allocation and supervision of daily workloads in compliance with statutory and local timescales.
The post holder will be required to prepare and present reports at Sub Committee hearings and provide advice and guidance to elected Members, members of the public, licence holders, applicants and other stakeholders. Attendance is also required at magistrate’s court to represent the Licensing Authority on any subsequent appeals. Additionally, they will be required to Lead on and deal with any enquiries or complaints and identify breaches of legislation administered by the Council’s Licensing team. They will also be involved in the processing of a range of application types, conducting visits, checking legal notices, advising, educating and assisting existing and prospective licensees and businesses.
For the role, we ask that you have:
5 GCSEs Grades A*-C including English or a relevant Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW).
Detailed knowledge and understanding of licensing legislation procedure and practice.
The ability to influence and change behaviour of licensees through negotiation and mediation to achieve a satisfactory resolution.
A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel within the borough and externally for meetings, attendance at court etc.
