Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer
The market for consumer spend data is evolving rapidly and we would like to welcome a full-time, in-house Legal Counsel to our team who will lead our enterprise commercial (sales and partnerships) contracting with leading companies in financial services and consumer verticals.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be an integral part of the commercial team, focusing on the full lifecycle of legal agreements supporting our data-driven enterprise operations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Drafting, Reviewing, and Negotiating Contracts
* Manage a broad range of agreements including:
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
Data Evaluation Agreements
Master Services Agreements (MSAs)
Statements of Work (SoWs)
* Work closely with enterprise sales teams to structure and close commercial deals with clients and data suppliers.
* Ensure contracts align with business objectives while mitigating legal risks.
2. Supporting the Sales and Supply Process
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. sales, procurement, and product teams) to support legal aspects of data partnerships and client transactions.
* Provide legal guidance throughout the sales lifecycle, ensuring seamless deal progression.
3. Legal Advisory and Risk Management
* Identify and address potential legal risks associated with data supply and usage agreements.
* Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, and processes to streamline contract negotiations and risk management.
4. Compliance and Governance
* Ensure all agreements comply with data protection laws (e.g. GDPR), intellectual property laws, and other applicable regulations.
* Stay abreast of developments in technology law and data regulations, providing actionable advice to the business.
5. Process and Systems Improvement
* Optimize contract workflows and implement best practices for contract lifecycle management.
* Maintain a centralized repository for legal agreements and ensure efficient tracking of key terms and renewal dates.
6. Knowledge Development
* Build your understanding of our data products and services, becoming a trusted legal advisor on related matters.
* Share insights and guidance with the wider team on emerging trends in DaaS/SaaS legal frameworks.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially savvy lawyer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor with 3+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law.
* Proven track record handling enterprise-level agreements, ideally in technology, DaaS, or SaaS industries.
* Strong understanding of contract law, data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), and technology-related legal considerations.
* Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, with a solution-oriented mindset.
* Ability to balance legal risks with commercial opportunities.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Attributes:
* Direct experience with DaaS or SaaS agreements.
* Familiarity with data licensing and intellectual property issues.
* Interest in and ability to quickly learn about data products and their legal implications.

* Competency-based Interview – two or more stages, online/in the office (1 hour), competency-based and behavioural questions to assess technical skills/practical knowledge and overall role fit and cultural fit
