About the Role: As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play an essential role in helping students access and participate in the curriculum. You will provide academic and emotional support, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create personalised strategies for each student. The role demands a supportive, patient approach, encouraging students to be independent learners and fostering an inclusive learning environment. Leaning Support Mentor Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. Assist with the preparation of learning resources and activities tailored to the specific needs of students. Offer encouragement and motivation to students who may struggle with engagement, fostering a growth mindset and academic resilience. Work closely with class teachers to track student progress and support interventions to address any gaps in learning. Help to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), assisting students in setting achievable goals and monitoring their progress. Promote independence and self-confidence in students, encouraging them to take responsibility for their learning. Provide emotional and behavioural support, assisting students to develop social and emotional skills in the school environment. Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents to ensure effective collaboration. Leaning Support Mentor Job Requirements: Experience of working with students with additional learning needs, particularly within a classroom setting. A strong understanding of various learning difficulties and strategies for supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a similar qualification, is desirable. The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders. An empathetic and patient approach, with the ability to motivate students and maintain a calm and supportive environment. To work with GSL Education, you need to: Have the right to work in the UK.
