Job Description You will be responsible for: The successful technical and commercial execution of project work, including managing personnel and resources. As a Principal Engineer you will be technically competent and be a good communicator, and you will be able to develop relationships with clients and fellow professionals. You will play a key role in defining and influencing the company culture. You will help set the tone for communication and collaboration within the team, helping to foster good levels of employee engagement, and increasing productivity and efficiency in a positive and supportive environment. You will need to be from an engineering consultancy background with extensive experience in the residential industry with the ability to: Prepare technical outputs to the highest standards in accordance with the client’s ISO9001 quality management system. Provide direction and technical advice to more junior project team members, taking responsibility for developing team members to achieve their full potential. Develop effective teamwork within both the client and as part of a wider design team of other key stakeholders. Responsible for the delivery of multi-disciplinary schemes (civil, structural, geo-environmental) as well as deliver all technical structural engineering services, in both cases demonstrating strong communication and client management skills. Responsible for the financial performance of projects, maximising efficiency and contributing to the delivery of the client’s commercial aims Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, contributing to the preparation of technical and financial proposals and bids. Qualifications & Experience A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or alternative equivalent practical experience. Near Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, Member of IStructE or ICE or equivalent. Significant experience within an engineering consultancy. Design experience in a range of structural engineering projects including low-rise residential developments. Your skills profile will include a record of managing, overseeing and providing guidance to more junior members of technical teams, including graduate engineers or technicians.
