Medicines are the most widely used intervention in health. The Medicines Safety Officer has a key role in delivering the medication safety agenda for the organisation. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and highly skilled clinical pharmacist, with a keen interest in working in Medicines Safety to lead on managing the risk from medicines, encouraging medicine incident reporting, learning from incidents and promoting the safe use of medicines in the organisation. This split role will also provide the opportunity for the successful applicant's clinical pharmacy career to develop, continuing to work as a Clinical Pharmacist. Main duties of the job To provide highly specialist advice and information on the safe use of medicines, and to promote good practice on medicines use across Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. To be an active member of the National Medicines Safety Network To collate, analyse and investigate medication incidents, learning from these incidents to improve medication safety for patients To support the development and review of the Medication Safety Strategy for the organisation and implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework To be a Clinical Pharmacist within the Clinical Pharmacy team.
