Braintkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support individuals in regaining lost skills. We treat people with a range of brain injuries – sustained through trauma, illness, substance abuse, and more – to recover and meet their personal goals. Our employees are incredibly passionate about their roles, fostering a strong team spirit across our services.
As a Support Worker, you will work with physically disabled adults with complex needs at a purpose-built unit with great access to the community. Your role will involve supporting individuals to meet their own needs and helping them gain the skills and confidence to live independently and/or return home. Activities may include assisting individuals in accessing the community, such as swimming, cinema, sports events, and concerts, depending on their interests.
You will share the journey with these inspiring individuals as they overcome hurdles, achieve milestones, and reach their goals. You can make a significant difference and inspire those you work alongside.
The Role
This role is based in Jane Percy House, a 25-bed purpose-built unit in Cramlington, Northumberland, providing care and support to individuals with physical disabilities and complex needs. We have a sensory room and a sensory garden.
We will train you to provide personalised support to people who use our service. During your induction, you will learn how to work alongside and support them, following individual support plans to meet the needs and aspirations of each person.
You’ll gain immense job satisfaction from seeing the people you support do more for themselves and live the life they want. If you’re interested in building a career, we’re here to support you on your own journey.
You will work to Brainkind's values: being agile, resourceful, courageous, connected, and having heart. We embody these values in every aspect of our roles, with the individuals who use our service at the heart of everything we do.
We provide a 4-week rota system where teams work together, including evening and weekend work. Personal care is a requirement of the role for the individuals we support.
