Sheffield United Football Club have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join our Finance team, providing a professional and accurate payroll service to our employees.
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll process, ensuring timely and compliant payments while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Undertake and lead payroll processing ensuring the correct application, accuracy and timescales are met for the employee obligations and associated declarations and payments to HMRC.
2. Create and maintain employment budgets and report variances against these.
3. Control and oversee the time and attendance system ensuring efficiency and ongoing suitability and ensure that staff are appropriately trained to use this.
4. Utilise data captured through various areas of the club to ensure accuracy and efficiency of processes.
5. Understand and lead on taxation across the Club and engage with HMRC on tax issues.
6. Produce monthly insights into staff costs for the Head of Finance and Head of HR.
7. Monitor the treatment of agents fees, updating file notes and ensuring that appropriate tax is applied to payments.
8. Calculate holiday accruals and monitor the application of national minimum wage utilising the time and attendance system and other reports.
9. Ensure that all correspondence and queries are dealt with in a timely manner providing excellence in customer service to our internal and external stakeholders.
10. Direct management of Payroll Officer.
11. Any other reasonable requests as directed by management.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
1. Professional payroll qualification or accountancy qualification.
2. Previous supervisory experience in payroll.
3. Sage Payroll 50 experience.
4. Experience in processing high volumes of payrolls.
5. Payroll administration.
6. P11d processing.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. Excellent attention to detail.
9. The ability to work to tight deadlines and cope well under pressure.
10. Supervisory experience and skills.

12. Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential material.
