Job Summary & Purpose
Purpose: As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and success of your products. In this role, you will leverage your knowledge of user needs and business goals to frame problems, set priorities, and lead your delivery team to achieve outstanding results.
Your Products: Flooding Products
Responsibilities:
1. Maximize the value delivered through Flooding products on behalf of the Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC), balancing business strategy, customer contract requirements, and end-user needs.
2. Develop, own, and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap, driven by customer, stakeholder, and user insights.
3. Identify and manage dependencies between your product and other related systems or products.
4. Apply Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards and guidance to ensure that public digital services meet government standards, and appropriately apply these standards to non-public services.
5. Align with the skills and competencies within the DDaT Product profession, particularly in the following areas:
1. Agile Working: Use Agile principles to adapt, challenge, reflect, and improve ways of working to deliver effective solutions.
2. Product Ownership: Act as product owner, leading the agile delivery team for the FFC. Translate requirements to the delivery team and help manage and visualize outcomes, prioritize work, and adhere to the agreed minimum viable product (MVP) and scope.
3. DDaT Perspective: Demonstrate a working understanding of design, technology, and data principles, using data to drive evidence-based decisions.
4. Financial Perspective: Consider the financial costs of delivering and maintaining features when prioritizing and accepting business demands, including the impact on the total cost of ownership (TCO).
5. Lifecycle Perspective: Manage Flooding products through discovery, alpha, beta, and live states, supporting all phases and requirements of web and mobile app products.
6. Operational Management: Lead the team to balance delivery priorities with business-as-usual activities and operational issues through effective prioritization.
7. Problem Management: Initiate and monitor actions to identify trends and resolve problems.
8. Strategic Ownership: Align with Digital Services’ strategic objectives to deliver against key performance indicators across the product portfolio.
9. User Focus: Develop in-depth knowledge of the FFC and its users. Support user research activities to shape deliverables and understand user needs.
10. Working within Constraints: Identify and communicate constraints, challenge their validity, and ensure compliance with standards.
