We are currently seeking a dedicated Engineering Shift Team Leader to oversee our engineering activities and lead a team of engineers to ensure the highest standards of performance and safety.
About the Role:
As an Engineering Shift Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day maintenance engineering activities during your shift. Working closely with the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for maximising uptime, ensuring efficient maintenance, and implementing permanent solutions for breakdowns and failures. You will also be tasked with coaching and mentoring your team, modelling best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise a team of engineers, developing and implementing solutions to technical problems with support from the Engineering Development Manager.
• Work alongside the Engineering Manager to drive improvements in uptime and ensure timely, high-quality repairs.
• Take charge of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), ensuring targets are met and all scheduled tasks are completed effectively.
• Evaluate production lines daily to identify and address engineering requirements for maximum efficiency.
• Oversee key engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and in line with company goals.
• Provide clear instructions and guidelines to ensure the engineering shift works at its optimal capacity.
• Manage and develop your team by delegating tasks effectively, ensuring the right skill set is applied to each job.
• Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times, conducting audits and supporting compliance.
• Provide guidance and training to engineers and apprentices to enhance their skills and performance.
• Ensure food safety is maintained at all times, in line with industry standards and practices.
What We’re Looking For:
• Qualifications: A formal engineering qualification (City and Guilds, ONC/HNC, or equivalent), or extensive experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
• Experience: Proven experience supervising or managing a team within an engineering context.
• Skills: Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a results-driven mindset.
• Attributes: A professional, proactive approach with a passion for driving continuous improvement, delivering results, and working collaboratively as part of a team.
