About The Service An exciting opportunity has arisen within the new Design, Construction and Maintenance (DCM) department for the role of a Financial/Administration Assistant to undertake general administration and financial tasks for the department. The newly established DCM Team is responsible for designing and delivering a wide range of building related projects across the Council’s school and corporate estates, from emergency requests through to larger scale projects. The Team adopts a multi discipline approach to ensure that the Council’s broad range of policy objectives are fully considered and applied to deliver projects on time, within cost and to the required quality. About the job The primary purpose of the role is to provide a wide range of administration and financial tasks to support the activity of the department, this can include organising meetings and taking minutes, updating records and resolving queries. This role has a specific focus on undertaking the procurement of goods and services to support the teams within DCM and also on behalf of the wider Strategic Estates. What We Are Looking For From You The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have some experience of administrative support and of working in a customer service environment. The successful candidate will also have: Experience of managing and dealing with customer queries or complaints. Experience in processing orders and invoices. Strong personal organisational skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively with a good knowledge of IT systems. Desirable is a knowledge of SAP. Council Benefits Package This salary is subject to the Living Wage supplement, which brings pay rates up to £12.00 per hour (spinal column points 2-4). This supplement will be reviewed annually. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage supplement.
