Job Vacancy: SEMH Teacher – Southampton \n\nLocation: Southampton, Hampshire\n Position: SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher\n Start Date: September 2025\n Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nWe are looking for a passionate, resilient, and committed SEMH Teacher to join a dedicated team in a specialist setting in Southampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in education and beyond.\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nTeach students with SEMH needs in a supportive and structured environment.\n\nDevelop and deliver differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students.\n\nImplement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support to students.\n\nWork closely with a team of support staff, SENCO, and other professionals to create and maintain individual education plans (IEPs).\n\nSupport students in managing their emotions, building resilience, and improving their social and academic skills.\n\nTrack and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to students and their families.\n\nAbout You:\n\nQTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with experience in teaching students with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or alternative provision.\n\nExperience in managing behaviour positively and implementing de-escalation techniques.\n\nAbility to provide a calm, supportive, and consistent learning environment for students with complex needs.\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals.\n\nA passion for supporting young people to overcome their barriers to learning and fulfil their potential.\n\nA commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom.\n\nWe Offer:\n\nA supportive and inclusive school environment with a strong focus on wellbeing.\n\nSmall class sizes to allow for more tailored and focused teaching.\n\nOpportunities for continuous professional development and SEN training.\n\nA chance to make a real, positive difference in the lives of students who need it the most.\n\nAll applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
