JOB TITLE: Operations Administrators x 2
SALARY & HOURS: Band 3, £28,650 per annum, 9am-5pm
The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being one of the UK’s smallest universities, and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 60 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment. Whichever of our locations you find yourself working in, you will be sure to feel a part of our friendly community. Our size enables us to foster a very personalised, supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, with lots of opportunity for development, something which we are very proud of.
The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University. They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.
The Faculty of Education is growing at a very rapid rate and these positions have come about due to staff leaving to pursue further professional development in other fields. The roles will assist the faculty in delivering the full student life-cycle.
The roles will be reporting to the Faculty Registrar and one of the three operations managers.
Role Purpose
Working under the supervision of the operations manager and reporting to the faculty registrar, the role involves the successful delivery of the student life-cycle across all the courses run by the faculty. The post holders will provide guidance, advice and support to all our trainees, tutors, mentors and other stakeholders, using a mix of written and verbal communication – through emails and phone calls.
The remit of the role will change every academic year, largely governed by the requirements of the courses the faculty has decided to deliver in the forthcoming year. From time to time the post holders will also be required to work across both the admissions and the operations teams, supporting the team which is busiest at that time of the year - mainly May to August in the case of admissions.
The job entails being able to manage and respond to a high volume of emails on a daily basis. This makes it essential for the post holder to be fluent in English, both written and verbal, and able to manage time effectively. Additionally, the post holders will be responsible for setting up online platforms, reviewing course handbooks and website content, collecting forms, data management, understanding of GDPR and arranging marking/moderation, tutor allocation, delivering face-to-face residentials held during school half-term holidays and any other tasks required to successfully administer the courses run by the faculty.
