Role Overview As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will inspire students to think critically and develop practical skills in design, engineering and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons and fostering students' creativity, problem-solving abilities and technical knowledge. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver innovative and practical lessons in Design and Technology, aligned with the national curriculum. Engage students in design thinking, prototyping and manufacturing processes. Promote the use of CAD software, 3D printing and modern manufacturing techniques in the classroom. Foster problem-solving skills, creativity and engineering principles through hands-on projects. Support students in developing their coursework, practical projects and exam preparation. Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment, ensuring health and safety regulations are met. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine curriculum content. Inspire students to consider careers in design, engineering and technology-related fields. Design Technology Teacher requirements: A qualified teacher status (QTS) is a must with a specialisation in Design and Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related subject. Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level. Strong understanding of technical drawing, materials science and modern design principles. The ability to incorporate digital tools, including CAD software and CNC machinery, into lessons. A passion for hands-on, project-based learning. Excellent classroom management and the ability to engage and inspire students. A commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
