Manual Machinist / Turner
Location: Wigan, WN6 0YS
Salary: £16-£20 per hour, depending on experience

Duties:
* As a Manual Machinist you will operate manual lathes to perform precision machining tasks, including turning, milling, and drilling, on a wide range of materials.
* Manufacture and modify components according to technical drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and quality standards.
* Perform intricate tasks such as screw cutting, creating pins, and producing custom parts with specific dimensions.
* Work on diverse projects, from one-off custom pieces to high-volume production, depending on client needs.
* Carry out repairs on components as part of the company’s service offerings, ensuring efficient turnaround times.
* Inspect and measure finished parts to confirm they meet dimensional and quality requirements.
* Collaborate closely with fabricators, welders, and fitters on complex projects that require multiple skill sets.
* Prioritise safety and maintain a clean, organised workspace.
* Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and accommodate urgent jobs for clients.
Working Hours:
* Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
* Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm, with an early finish
* Ample overtime available at enhanced rates:
* Weekdays and Saturdays: 1.5x
* Sundays and Bank Holidays: 2x
Interview Process: Candidates will complete a test/trial with the Director to assess skills.
Note: This is not a CNC role, this is a Manual Turner / Manual Machinist position
Requirements
* At least 3 years’ experience working with manual lathes.
* NVQ Level 2 in Machine Engineering or similar qualification.
* Strongly prefer time-served manual machinists with proven experience in this role.
