The post will be full time 37.5 hours per week.
To work with all members of the clinical team within the multidisciplinary framework. The Ward Clerical Officer is an essential part of a Ward Team, helping to streamline the work of the ward, support and help all members of the ward team to provide a quality service.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provision of clerical support to assist the Ward Manager or Deputy Manager on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients via PAS & Ward View.
2. Provide bed management/ward coordinator with an accurate bed state by updating the white board in real time.
3. Greet and help direct Patients, Relatives, Staff, and the general public, managing incoming non-medical telephone calls appropriately.
4. Book porters for the transfer of patients/clinical cleans/general maintenance requests using the i.serco booking system.
5. Liaise with other departments to request and collect notes required for patient care.
6. Ensure daily filing of patient notes ready for next day coding and accurate tracking of incoming patient notes.
7. Complete Electronic Discharge Letters at the time of discharge, ensuring timely filing ready for the coding department.

Minimum Requirements:
1. To provide clerical support and assist the Ward Manager or their Deputy on the admission/transfer and discharge of patients.
2. To greet and direct all visitors e.g. patients, relatives, Chaplains, to the appropriate member of staff or patient.
3. To update the inpatient diary, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date and correspond with PAS.
