As a Customs Agent (Trainee), you will play a critical role in managing customs documentation, ensuring compliance with UK and international regulations, and supporting smooth import/export operations. Key Responsibilities
1. Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and process customs documentation for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.
2. Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with customs authorities, brokers, and internal teams to resolve any issues and ensure timely clearance of goods.
3. Data Accuracy: Input and maintain accurate customs data within management systems, ensuring records are up-to-date and compliant with legal requirements.
4. Issue Resolution: Quickly and efficiently address any customs-related problems or delays, proactively finding solutions to minimize disruptions.
5. Compliance Monitoring: Stay informed of changes in customs regulations and ensure that all documentation and processes adhere to the latest requirements.
6. Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to clients and internal teams by addressing customs-related inquiries and ensuring that shipments are cleared smoothly.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure customs information is accurately shared and processed.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a busy office or administrative role. Experience in customs, logistics, import/export, or compliance is highly desirable but not essential.
2. Skills:
1. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
2. Effective communication skills, able to engage with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
