Stoke College are looking for a suitable applicant to lead the faculty of Humanities, including oversight and responsibility for schemes of work, curriculum development and working closely with Teaching and Learning, and Pastoral SLT members.
This role is combined with a Geography teaching role.
Main Responsibilities
• To lead and manage the Heads of Department and Subject Leads in Humanities
• To be accountable for all attainment in Humanities at Key Stage 3, 4 & 5
• To lead staff in developing curriculum provision in History, Classics, Geography, Business, Economics and Sociology.
• Sharing best practice teaching methods across the department and engaging with other Heads of Department on best in class teaching practices.
• Reviewing pupil attainment targets and ensuring a robust process is in place to support pupils to meet and exceed these targets
• Monitoring lesson planning and homework provision
• Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports for Advisory Council meetings as required
• To attend and participate in team meetings, HoD staff meetings,
• To lead the Departments in achieving improvements as noted in the School Improvement Plan.
• Responsible for completing the performance management reviews for all Heads of Department and Lead teachers in Humanities.
• Hold regular line management meetings.
• Support the professional development of colleagues, in order to lead, develop and enhance the teaching skills of the department.
• Work closely with SENDCO, LDC and EAL to ensure appropriate support is provided in the classroom for those pupils who have special education needs.
• Manage the department budget.
The Teacher will be responsible for delivery high quality teaching, through the provision of schemes of work and planning engaging lessons to enable all students to make the best possible progress.
The Teacher must be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way using a range of teaching styles. In addition, they will be expected to contribute to the routine and extra-curricular life of the School
