G's Fresh Ltd and their Beetroot operation in March packs over 17.5k tonnes each year, a site with industry-leading automation and a significant workforce, they supply the UK's leading supermarkets with fresh, healthy Beetroot products.
We are looking to recruit an Improvements Engineer to work with us to identify, diagnose, and resolve long-standing operational and engineering issues within the beetroot packing facility. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement in factory performance by addressing and fixing a backlog of unresolved problems that have accumulated over time.
The Improvements Engineer will work closely with both engineering colleagues and factory personnel to ensure that the factory operates at peak efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute improvement projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and safety of factory operations.
2. Prioritise and systematically work through a backlog of maintenance and improvement tasks that have been deferred over time.
3. Implement preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of future equipment failures and operational disruptions.
4. Diagnose and resolve persistent mechanical and operational issues that have hindered factory performance.
5. Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify the underlying causes of recurring problems and implement effective solutions.
6. Liaise closely with engineering colleagues, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that improvement initiatives are aligned with overall factory goals.
7. Collect and analyse data related to equipment performance and operational efficiency to identify trends and areas for improvement.
8. Prepare detailed reports on the outcomes of improvement initiatives, including cost savings, efficiency gains, and reductions in downtime.
9. Plan, coordinate, and manage relevant improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Candidate requirements:
1. A strong background in mechanical or industrial engineering, with experience in fault finding, troubleshooting, and process improvement within a manufacturing or production environment.
2. Familiarity with the equipment and processes used in food packaging or similar industries is highly desirable.
3. Meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on ensuring that all work meets high standards of quality and safety.
4. Proven ability to identify the root causes of complex problems and develop practical, effective solutions.
5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Experience in planning and managing engineering projects.
8. Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
9. Relevant certifications or exposure to Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) are an advantage.
