We are looking for a talented Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our team and lead the design efforts for innovative, sustainable building solutions. With a focus on converting feasibility reports into detailed design specifications, the ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of professional experience and a proven track record in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop detailed design specifications, emphasizing sustainable design, energy efficiency, and low carbon principles.
2. Generate customized documentation, such as scope of works, assessment reports, and procurement specifications, addressing all aspects of mechanical building services.
3. Conduct thorough surveys of mechanical services and equipment to gather essential information for reports and findings.
4. Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to implement sustainable building solutions.
5. Provide estimates for work elements, including equipment and man-hour costs.
6. Conduct briefings with clients and design teams to establish project criteria.
7. Stay informed about industry best practices and innovations to incorporate into projects.
8. Coordinate with a network of solution providers to integrate product innovation into designs.
Requirements:
1. Master’s degree in building services/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
2. Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer.
3. Desired membership with CIBSE/IMechE, with an intention to progress to Chartered Engineer.
4. In-depth knowledge of current Building Regulations and relevant Legislation.
5. Ensure compliance with construction (design and management) regulations.
6. Thorough understanding of energy and carbon-related data capture and analytics.
7. Familiarity with building physics principles, such as passive design solutions and fabric-first approaches.
8. Design experience in heat pump, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems.
9. Proficient in producing detailed design calculations to support design requirements.
10. Knowledge and experience with Revit & AutoCAD is beneficial.
11. Strong report-writing skills.
12. Awareness of energy reduction methods and approaches to decarbonize new and existing buildings.
13. Ability to review detailed design drawings, layouts, and schematics, including HVAC, specialist LEV, and BMS installations.
14. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
