Summary As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit. Salary: £11.64 an hour Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 30th November 2025, with potential to extend into 2026 Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. Shifts will generally run from 10.00am- 5.00pm and regular weekend and Bank Holiday working is essential. Offering a flexible working pattern, you would work 2 or 3 shifts a week. Interview date: Thursday 6th and Friday 7th February Potential start date: early March for training and induction, before the property opens on 2nd April Regular e-learning and training sessions will be a mandatory part of the role. Set on the village green in Long Melford, it has a fascinating history ranging from a medieval monastic estate to a lived in family home. What you'll be doing As a Welcome & Service Assistant you’ll be a key member of the small but motivated Melford Hall Visitor Welcome team, which is integral to the delivery of the visitor experience, working alongside paid staff and volunteers to set families up for an amazing experience. You’ll provide a fantastic welcome to visitors to the property, will take payment for admission whilst actively promoting National Trust membership. You will also be responsible for cashing up the till and following correct financial processes. Predominantly an outdoors role, you will assist with car parking, will loan out off-road powered mobility vehicles & will assist in driving the visitor shuttle. You will also be a 1st Aider at Work (full training given). Actively involved with growing support, you’ll help to increase fundraising income in the second-hand bookshop and through sales of pin badges and guidebooks. You will also support with delivering our programme of events throughout the season including our family activities and general visitor offer.
