Graduate Chemical Product Manager - Resins and Additives
£45,000 to £55,000 - £20,000 OTE – Plus – Car, Mobile, Private healthcare and Pension
Field based covering the Northern territory (North Wales-Stoke-North Derbyshire-North Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire upwards)
We are a leading independent distributor of chemicals based in the UK. We currently have an opportunity for a Speciality Product Manager and we will also consider a formulation Lab Technician looking to take the next step into a new and exciting role.
This is very much a customer focused role, a large proportion of your day will be spent liaising with customers and clients, assisting with orders and dealing with queries, ensuring that a high level of customer service is achieved at all times.
The ideal candidate will be a Speciality Product Manager who will manage the sales of specialty chemicals including resins and additives into manufacturers in the UK: surface coatings, paints, adhesives and construction. However, we will also consider a formulation Lab Technician looking to take the next step up.
You will be managing all aspects of a major global principal as well as developing markets for all of the additional specialties product range.
Minimum Requirements:
Science Degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science / Material Science / Chemical Engineering with a few years in technical sales or purchasing.
Experience within the sectors surface coatings, paints, adhesives and construction would be an advantage.
General Duties include but not limited to:
1. Delivery of budgeted targets and KPI’s as set
2. Increase revenue, gross margin and number of trading customers. Determine with the main Principal a business plan and actions required for growth in gross profit, year on year and in line with budgeted targets
3. Representation of the company at relevant trade exhibitions and specific events
4. Proactively provide business development proposals, properly qualified and quantified
5. Key relationship builder with customers, Principals and colleagues (all stakeholders)
6. Work closely with Specialties Team & QMS to ensure we meet customer and Principal requirements and enhance service levels to both
7. Travel both within the UK and occasional International (training and trade shows) will be required as part of this role
8. Develop and significantly expand our sales.
Ideal Candidate:
* Science Degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science / Material Science / Chemical Engineering with a few years in technical sales or purchasing
* Experience within the sectors surface coatings, paints, adhesives and construction would be an advantage
* Excellent attention to detail
* Good communication and relationship building skills
* The ability to work as part of a team
* Self-motivated and capable of managing your time effectively
* The ability to prioritise and multitask efficiently
* A good level of IT literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Full UK driving licence required
* Awareness of Industry specific legislation such as REACH
