Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineering Site Foreman to join our team in the Southwest of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing civil engineering projects on-site, ensuring they are completed safely, on time and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Management: Supervise day-to-day activities on civil engineering sites, ensuring adherence to project timelines and schedules.
2. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and day-to-day risk assessments.
3. Quality Control: Oversee the quality of construction work, ensuring it meets required specifications, standards, and regulations.
4. Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate on-site construction teams, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and motivation.
5. Progress Monitoring: Track and report on project progress to Line Manager(s), identifying potential issues and providing solutions to prevent delays or cost overruns.
6. Liaison with Stakeholders: Maintain effective communication with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
7. Materials and Equipment Management: Oversee the delivery and usage of materials and equipment, ensuring they are used efficiently and stored properly.
8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of daily site activities, including site diaries and incident reports.
9. Environmental Considerations: Ensure environmental guidelines and regulations are adhered to throughout the project.
Requirements:
1. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a site foreman or similar role within civil engineering, preferably on infrastructure, highways, or utilities projects.
Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of civil engineering processes, construction methods, and safety procedures.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate teams effectively.
4. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
5. Proficiency in use of mobile and email systems.
Certifications:
1. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card required.
2. SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification is preferred.
3. First Aid at Work is desirable.
Driving License: Full UK driving license as the role may involve travel to various site locations within the Southwest region.
Desirable Attributes:
1. Previous experience working in the Southwest of England or familiarity with local regulations and conditions.
2. Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in civil engineering projects.
